Podczas wydarzenia pokażemy film Kobanê, porozmawiamy o sytuacji Kurdów i Kurdyjek dziś, tego jak możemy pomóc w obronie Rożawy, będzie też muzyka i wspólny poczęstunek. Zapraszamy, bo wierzymy, że solidarność zaczyna się od wiedzy, rozmowy i bycia razem – zwłaszcza wtedy, gdy feministyczna i demokratyczna rewolucja znów jest zagrożona.

Region atakowany jest przez siły islamistyczne, nową Syrię HTS i Turcję, które od lat dążą do zniszczenia kurdyjskiej autonomii, a społeczność międzynarodowa po raz kolejny odwraca wzrok, USA zdradziły Kurdów i w ostatniej chwili porzuciły najważniesjzego sojusznika w walce z ISIS. To zagrożenie uderza w projekt oparty na równości kobiet i mężczyzn, samorządności, współistnieniu różnych grup etnicznych i religijnych oraz oddolnej demokracji. Obrona Rożawy to obrona demokracji. Dlatego na to wydarzenie zapraszamy nie do nas, Oddolnego Centrum Społeczno Kulturalnego Postój, a do nowego lokalu Dolnośląskiego Komitetu Obrony Demokracji.

Kobanê to kurdyjski film wojenny opowiadający o oblężeniu Kobanî, które miało miejsce od października 2014 r. do stycznia 2015 r. między Kurdyjskimi Ludowymi Jednostkami Obrony (YPG) a Jednostkami Ochrony Kobiet (YPJ) przeciwko Państwu Islamskiemu. Film został wyreżyserowany przez Özlema Yasara i wyprodukowany przez Rojava Film Commune. Został nakręcony w Al-Thawrah i Tebqa w Rożawie. Film skupia się na roli kurdyjskich kobiet w walkach. Film opowiada o życiu Zohry, 32-letniej bojowniczki YPJ, która zostaje dowódcą swojej jednostki, gdy dowódca ucieka z pola bitwy. Prowadzi siły kurdyjskie do przełamania oblężenia Kobane i wyzwolenia miasta, mimo że ISIS ma większą liczbę żołnierzy i cięższą broń.

This event is an invitation to learn together about the history of the Rojava revolution and the women who played a key role in defeating ISIS, and who today are once again standing up to defend their communities. During the event we will screen the film Kobanê, talk about the current situation of Kurds and Kurdish women, and discuss how we can support the defense of Rojava. There will also be music and shared food. We invite you because we believe that solidarity begins with knowledge, conversation, and being together — especially when a feminist and democratic revolution is once again under threat.

Today, the region is under attack by Islamist forces, the new Syrian authority HTS, and Turkey, all of whom have for years sought to destroy Kurdish autonomy. Once again, the international community is turning a blind eye. The United States has betrayed the Kurds, abandoning its most important ally in the fight against ISIS at the last moment. This threat is an attack on a project based on gender equality, self-governance, coexistence of different ethnic and religious communities, and grassroots democracy. Defending Rojava means defending democracy itself. That is why this event will not take place at our space, the grassroots socio-cultural center Postój, but at the new venue of the Lower Silesian Committee for the Defense of Democracy.

Kobanê is a Kurdish war film about the siege of Kobanî, which took place from October 2014 to January 2015, when the Kurdish People’s Defense Units (YPG) and the Women’s Defense Units (YPJ) fought against the Islamic State. The film was directed by Özlem Yasar and produced by the Rojava Film Commune. It was shot in Al-Thawrah and Tebqa in Rojava. The film focuses on the role of Kurdish women in the fighting. It tells the story of Zohra, a 32-year-old YPJ fighter who becomes the commander of her unit after her superior flees the battlefield. Despite ISIS having more fighters and heavier weapons, she leads Kurdish forces to break the siege of Kobanê and liberate the city.
